In partnership with Brent Council and the Canal & River Trust, OPDC is pleased to announce that we have now completed works on a new local improvement project designed to make Harlesden Canalside a more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable place.
Supported by the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund, this project is latest in a series of improvement works, designed to make the spaces and places in Old Oak and Park Royal more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable for the community.
We have undertaken work to deliver:
A widened towpath to provide better access for everyone
A new amphitheatre for people to sit and enjoy the canal, large enough to host community outdoor events
New planting and seating
Improved canoe facilities for the Sharks Canoe Club
Dedicated spaces for local community organisations to moor their narrow boats.
We hope you are able to enjoy these enhancements to the area and we are looking forward to developing an exciting calendar of events in the spring.
Second community mooring - expressions of interest welcome
OPDC is welcoming expressions of interest from any businesses or community groups who are interested in occupying the second community mooring at Harlesden Canalside. Do you own a local business and want to have a permanent mooring on the canal? Or do you know anyone who might be interested?
Please note - interested businesses will need to provide and maintain their own narrowboat for this mooring.
We’re looking specifically for businesses that will benefit the community, it could be a community café or community-based organisation – we want to hear from you!
Please fill in the register your interest form here and send your completed form to Info@opdc.london.gov.uk.
